Finally Back

After a long break from my little home here on the internet, I am back. I never intended to be gone this long but in some ways it was actually nice and I am back to feeling inspired. So before I go into an update, I hope you like my new blog name. Since I have been gone so long and I have gone through some changes, the new name fits me and the season of life I am in. So here is my update.

  1. Williamsburg Trip

Colin and I went on our anniversary trip at the end of June. This is also where the fate of my phone was sealed and I had a heck of a time trying to get back in, till today. It was such a nice time, even if I did end up losing my phone.

The Summer I Pretended You Were Mine • A Super Short Story•

There was a time long ago, I pretended you were mine. I was the hopeless romantic who weaved stories and you were the cool and confident one.

The summer air smelled of Axe and Hawaiian Tropic as we we ran through the hidden trails. I sang along to every song on the radio and you were always making me laugh. The unspoken words hung in mid air never to be spoken. Yet, we continued to splash each other in the pool. Laughter filling starry nights.

All to quickly the summer  ended and we had to go our separate ways. Though you were never mine to hold, I pretended you were. Even for a short time I felt loved. The words left unsaid knitted together with a memory of that summer. Occasionally to be pulled out to fondly remember that summer.

Years later we meet again. I still weave stories and you were still confident. No, we can’t go back to that summer. Despite the unsaid feelings, I will always remember the summer I pretended you were mine.

Forever Friends

If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw my post on saying good byes. I tend to prefer “See you later” because One day, Lord willing; sooner rather then later, we will see each other again.

On the way to Dulles to drop Dan and Jen off, I couldn’t believe two weeks flew by as quickly as it did. It was too soon.

Their last night ,we did a bonfire. Seemed fitting to have s’mores and music before they went home.

I sat the the back of the van thinking of how fast it all went. How I was going to say good-bye. Then I realized that this good bye was only for a little while.

It didn’t help that it rained a little bit. Adding to what I already felt.

I was looking out the window at Dulles and had this thought:

I like to think of the heart as a house. There are people who come and go. Then you have people who stay and make themselves at home. These special people are forever friends. The kind that sit on your sofa, kick off their shoes and stay awhile. Those are forever friends. Those are the friendships were the memories keep you warm until you see each other again and make new memories to go with the last.

With that kind of friendship, England is only a heartbeat away.

Williamsburg Part 2 |Jamestown|

In the past few months have I really gotten to find a connection to Jamestown. Through studying my family and finding some of my relatives who had lived in Jamestown before settling in different parts of Virginia and Maryland.

•Indian Village•

The first part we walked through the Powhatan Indian Village.

•The Dock•

These were the replica ships.

•The Fort•

The Fort that the English built and settled.

After we did all of the outdoor museum, we went inside to go through the museum inside.

We were there for 6 days and while there were some hot days, we loved being down there.

We also went to Busch Gardens.

I also snapped a few shots from our last walk through the Colonial Park.

Vacation with Friends

•To prevent a novel coming out of one post, I will be posting a couple more blog posts!•

All stories have a beginning. The part where you sit in a comfy chair with a cup of tea or coffee. Some of you may rather have a glass of wine. You sit down and open up the book. The weight of the story meant to be read in your hands.

This story begins at Dulles airport. Colin’s best friend and his wife were coming in from England. I had met both of them over Skype and was excited to see them in person. After the hugs we headed home to begin a two week adventure.

The last two weeks have been Colin and Brandy. Dan and Jen. Or more actually Colin and Dan. Brandy and Jen.

Between swimming at Jerusalem Mill, sitting on the Pier at Mariner and many Bon fires. It has been wonderful getting to know both of them.

The house was filled with music and laughter. Now as I sit here and type they are home and it can’t be helped that I miss them.

Years ago, I wrote about asking God for a best friend. You know; the Anne and Diana-Kindred spirit kind. I can honestly say that I finally found my kindred spirit. Jen and I got to be really close. Now she is one of my best friends.

Jen is also a blogger. She blogs at  A Splash of Yellow  go check her out!

We also spent a week in Williamsburg. ( Those pictures will be in a separate posts). Here are few pictures from the first week!

Beach Trip

The ocean is one of my favorite natural beauties on earth ( the other being mountains). I love the sight and sound of the waves, the smell of the salty air, the feel of the sand between my toes while the waves slap up against me. I adore the ocean. When I got saved that was what I listened to as I fell asleep. The plus side of getting saved on the beach! I am always reminded how much God loves me when I am by the Ocean.

I also got burnt. The past few days have been me drinking ice water, wearing loss clothing and reapplying after sun lotion. I also had no internet those days so I took the time to read. No Grey’s Anatomy for this girl. It was hard laying there and feeling burned and wondering why I even bothered with sunscreen anyway. I ended up burnt still. Good news, I am healing very well and I will have a nice tan. As well as not have to worry about being this burned again. Yay! Which brings me to my next trip: Williamsburg!! I can not begin to express how excited I am to go. And to go with my skin use to sun exposure so my sunblock won’t have to do all the work!

With any trip, I have a packing list. Besides the actual trip, packing lists are one of my favorite parts. It means we are getting closer to a week away.

So in closing I want to share a couple more shots I took at the beach.

As Summer Leaves

First off my reader friends, I want to say that I am sorry for not posting in such a long time. A lot has happened and I am now ready to share with you what has been going on in my life, and what my plans are for this blog.    This year alone has been a season of being in a storm. At times the rain just got to a point where it was flooding. It’s not even just one event or circumstance. It is the combination of everything going on. This year, I have been digging into Ruth. I have touched a little bit about Ruth in a different post. The more I have gotten deeper into the trenches with Ruth, my eyes have been opened to this woman, that I think I have misunderstood. We look at the book of Ruth and we are so attracted to the love story of Boaz and Ruth. Yet when you step away from that picture and look at her story from the beginning.. it’s a story of a woman who lost her husband, gave up her homeland and even the opportunity to marry again to go with her mother in law to a land that she wasn’t going to welcomed in with open arms. She also made the life changing choice to follow a God who was the One and only and wasn’t one of the many that she was raised to believe in. Boaz, while he is a big part of her story, he was a second chance, a gift God gave Ruth. She didn’t wallow in the hard times but allowed God to take them and to mold her. That has been my prayer. that God would take these times and mold me. With every wave clinging to the rock that keeps me firmly in place.

Along side with reading Ruth, I have begun One Thousand Gifts by Ann Vosekamp. Let me say that this has been book has been on point! I will share more about this in a different post.

I want to also take this time to talk about the Hillsong concert I had the opportunity to attend. First let me say that it was an amazing concert! Worshiping with so many brothers and sisters. It was such a beautiful and humbling experience. I also took a picture of my outfit.

This was what I wore that night. Super comfy!
I wanted to share with you some of what my summer has been like.

Hillsong Worship No Other Name Tour.

S’mores!

Bonfire: High flames and I captured my thoughts on the added heat!

When Bonfire died down a bit and made for a nice time around the fire.

My first paper wreath! Tutorial coming soon!

A project I would love to do. Saw this light fixture at the Painted Mill.. I so want to make one!

I have been praying a lot about my blog and I have been working on some plans. I want to post some lookbooks and diy projects as well as some other random posts. I have been working hard and they will slowly be a regular thing. I have acouple trips this coming week and I have my West Virginia trip coming up. I am hoping to take as many pictures as I can!
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a wonderful day!
Much love
~ Brandy
