Red Queen and Glass Sword- Book Chat

So I am going to combine two books for this review. I read them close together and I will address my thoughts for each one and my thoughts for the series over all. So I have to start with book 1: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. I’ll admit that one of the reasons why I was really hesitant to read this was because of the mixed reviews. Either people really liked this book or they did not. I actually liked it. I enjoyed being in the world, and was eager to learn more about these powerful Red Bloods.

My Thoughts

To start off with I loved the fact that Mare was not your cookie cutter main character. We have this ordinary girl with extra-ordinary abilities.

Maven…..Maven…… What a piece of work. I didn’t like him and I am kinda glad my feelings were actually justified.

Cal… I loved Cal, even when I felt he was way to extreme. I loved him.

I better talk about the other book before I end up spoiling it for you.

Now to talk about Glass Sword also by Victoria Aveyard.

My Thoughts

Okay so there were parts of this that didn’t grip me the same way that Red Queen did. Just like there were parts of Red Queen didn’t grip me either. Mare actually annoyed me a bit. I was hoping to see her try and make things better but there were times were she was just way to focused on the plan and not on the people she was doing all this stuff for.

My Thoughts On The Series So Far

I started out giving Red Queen 5 stars on Goodreads. However after thinking about it, I ended up giving both books a 4 star rating on Goodreads. Despite having my issues with some parts I enjoyed reading them both and I am looking forward to seeing what happens in book three and seeing some character development.

What did you think about these books? Let me know in the comments below!

Till next time
